PEAU DOUBLE

Peau Double constitutes the fourth exhibition presented by Collectif Kimera, investigating the narrative potential of repurposed urban infrastructures. Artists-in-residence Ankita Das, Hsuan Lee, Guillaume Martin-Taton, Tanguy Troubat, and Martin Zambaz use artistic interventions to challenge and subvert the overarching narratives imposed by the urban environment, the city. The exhibition also features works by Thibault Messerli and a site-specific intervention by Camille Dumond, developed in collaboration with the PAV living room.

The urban objects reconfigured by the exhibiting artists—ranging from electrical conduits and illuminated signage to discarded items, raw materials, and road signage—originally carry a strong technological, economic, or political identity. These objects construct an urban framework that conveys a restricted and exclusive vision of the city. The artistic process strips each object of its initial meaning, reshaping, modelling, casting, and even altering it, while retaining its formal roots. Consequently, these objects remain recognisable yet reveal a new reality, enriching the city’s narrative and opening up alternative perspectives.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Collectif Kimera has produced a dedicated edition, incorporating a curatorial essay by Roxana Voinea and graphic design by Sam Fagnart, available on site.
